It is truly unbelievable how far we’ve come since our last update! It hasn’t even been 6 weeks and we’ve seen so much movement on the lot. We’ll take you through each step as we go through this post.
We broke ground!
We’re calling this first series, “the very boring dirt stuff”. I swear, this stuff took forever & as I was reflecting on this today I was realizing it’s because we weren’t really seeing much happen. So this stage felt like it went on and on and it would be forever until we saw our HOUSE go up. BUT these things are important! The first few weeks they…
-Poured concrete footings & crawl space walls
-Installed underground water & sewer lines
-Waterproofed & backfilled our foundation
So we went out and saw a huge hole and that was super exciting. Literally, we were stoked for SOMETHING to be happening haha…
…and then eventually we saw the crawlspace take shape, until…
…our crawlspace was finished and ready to be built upon, here comes the fun stuff! Within the last week, we saw the last series of photos unfold ( O N E W E E K ).
…and this is where we ended the week! See that little bitty gable? I love it, it’s so cute. I can’t wait to take you guys inside. It is pretty surreal to walk the perimeter of the house, knowing we will be living there in 2 months! It’s seriously so peaceful in our backyard, the neighborhood is so much more quiet than I imagined and I took a moment to just stand there and take it all in. One day we’ll look back on these pictures and be all mushy about the time when our house was still being built & I can’t wait for that day.
So that’s where we’re at! I’m so excited to see our siding go up. We picked a pretty neutral palette of vanilla-y colors. The top left section of the house will be vertical siding/board & batten, and the rest of the house will be normal horizontal siding, as well as dark dark green shutters. But I think the board & batten will be such a cute touch :) This week they were supposed to be finishing our framing & work on our plumbing and HVAC lines. We should be having our pre-drywall meeting this coming week or next and then drywall goes up! I know we mentioned in our last post about our concerns about the backyard but now that the house is in place, I think it’s going to be really sweet. It’s definitely narrow, but really long (perfect for throwing sticks with Mia, haha). ANYWAYS, things are starting to move fast & we’re stockpiling furniture and decor. Can’t wait to share more as it unfolds!
