There are some people you meet and instantly feel like best friends. Michelle & Jonathan are two of those people. The second they showed up at their engagement session, I was scarfing down a handful of goldfish and they didn't blink an eye. So naturally, best friends. We had been looking forward to their wedding ever since! And it did not disappoint. Those details! This couple! We love the mix of woodsy cabin & industrial warehouse. Michelle & Jonathan were the perfect mix to make it work. Here's their view of the best day ever:

We met playing a sport we both love, volleyball. Jonathan was in the process of switching from another team in our adult summer league. Michelle happened to play on that same team with her father along with other friends. Before long, a bunch of those friends formed a group called the Ithaca Volleyball Road trip Gang. Our group goes hiking, camping, small house parties. It was four years later, another camping trip was scheduled and after that trip we no longer saw each other as just friends.

We planned a beautiful vacation to do a road trip/site seeing trip to National Parks in Arizona and Utah. Jonathan knowing that not many opportunities like this would present themselves, jumped on the bandwagon to get a ring forged with a jeweler only a little over a month before their trip. After sweating it out through security and many hikes, Jonathan found the perfect opportunity at Lake Powell to pop the question!

Well Jonathan mostly hoped it would not throw us into debt. ;) Being an event planner, I had many other plans to make it the perfect event. I really wanted it to have an organic industrial feel with the decor and furniture chosen. Our priorities were to make sure everyone danced their butt off and to say at the end of the wedding "it was like no other wedding they've ever been too. "

We love how great all the vendors came together to really make the day flawless. Our photographers captured the "essence" of our wedding with ease. They were able to connect with our unique tastes and make it all memorable. One of our favorite parts was dancing to our wedding song as my (Michelle's) dad sang and played his guitar. Something I had wanted since I was a little girl.

Weddings are expensive. By all means save where you can save and make the things you can make, but don't cut yourself short by getting the cheapest vendor. Sometimes it's worth spending that extra money to get a more experienced vendor. Do your research and check reviews! The most important advice is only invite the people that mean the most to you not because your parents or relatives want them there. You don't need 200 people to make your day special! This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the two of you and you deserve to celebrate your way with the people you love the most.
